Australians and New Zealanders might have the occasional language barrier but even odd turns of phrase keep us united. After all, tell anyone else in the Anglosphere you wear nothing but thongs or jandals all summer and you’ll tend to be met with a look of confusion (and maybe concern if it’s the former of those two).

We’re also united by a love of hops, with Australian brewers showing plenty of affection for those grown in New Zealand in recent years. White Bay’s Jandals is an IPA featuring Riwaka, Southern Cross, Rakau and Cascade (yes, you might think of it as American or Australian, but this is the NZ stuff). It’s a beer packed with the across The Ditch aromatics many seek out in modern hop-led beers, with guava, white grape, gooseberry, ripe mango and pear all making an appearance.
